Which mecha from which shows have the best/most interesting designs?

Hello there! Thank you for the Ask!

There are a great many mecha shows that have “best/most interesting designs” relative to their mecha subgenre. That’s gonna be a list…

As I’m short on time right now, and heavily biased towards the genius of Mamoru Nagano, I’ll give the short answer: (1) Heavy Metal L-GAIM; (2) Five Star Stories; and (3) GOTHICMADE Hana no Utame.

Mamoru Nagano’s style and concepts (such as two pilots!) have influenced many mecha series that followed in the years after he began Five Star Stories manga. He’s my favorite.
